About CDC New England

CDC New England is a private corporation originally started in 1981 as a Certified Development Company to provide SBA 504 Program loans to small businesses for the acquisition of fixed assets in Massachusetts. Over four decades later, CDC has assisted companies throughout New England and now maintains five offices in the region. We are consistently ranked among the top 10% of all CDC’s in the country and the only CDC in New England, in conjunction with our financing partner, BDC Capital, to be awarded both Preferred and Premier Lender status under the SBA 7(a) and 504 Programs, the highest such designation given by SBA. In addition to the SBA Programs, we are the only CDC in New England that offers a suite of other financing products to complement the Programs, including asset-based lines of credit, term loans, mezzanine investments, and bridge and down payment financing.

Our Advantages

Fast Loans

Fastest Loan Approvals

A family-owned accounting firm located in the greater Boston area was seeking financing to acquire a nearby property and expand its operations. However, because of a strict due diligence period imposed by the seller of the property, CDC New England needed to get the loan approved in a matter of days to ensure the project could continue to move forward. CDC was able to offer the borrower same day turnaround to qualify the loan application and within two weeks of initial contact with the bank, CDC had obtained SBA approval, and the father and son-run business received its 90% financing through the SBA 504 Program.

24-Hour Access

Expediting Applications

After spending years working as executive chefs at various restaurants throughout Massachusetts, a husband and wife team decided to open up their own restaurant on Cape Cod. However, since they were still remaining loyal to their existing positions at an upscale restaurant, the couple did not have much time to gather information necessary to submit a loan application package. In order to expedite the process, a CDC Business Development Officer drove to the Cape and met with the couple on a national holiday to help them finalize their loan application. Soon after, the loan was approved with 85% financing through the SBA 504 Program, and the restaurant has been thriving since its grand opening. No matter the unique situation, CDC New England is accessible 24 hours a day to assist in any capacity necessary to make your customers’ dreams a reality.

Creative Solutions

A Turnkey Solution

When an experienced management team required financing to acquire the assets of a New Hampshire-based precision machine shop, CDC New England, in conjunction with our affiliate BDC Capital, provided the team with a turnkey solution. BDC Capital, through our managed mezzanine fund MB Capital Fund III, made an investment to assist with the management buyout. CDC combined with BDC and a local bank through the SBA 504 Program to finance the purchase of machinery and equipment. Our ability to offer our customers these additional financing tools enables us to handle potentially complex situations, even when they require solutions outside traditional financing programs.

Simple Application

Bridging the Gap

A Massachusetts contract operator of wastewater systems was looking to expand its operations into a larger facility. CDC New England worked with a local bank to finance this acquisition through the SBA 504 Program. Soon after approval, it became evident that due to the bank’s collateral policy, it would be unable to provide the necessary bridge financing on the SBA portion of the project without either requesting a policy exception or requiring additional collateral from the borrower. Due to the time-sensitive nature of the project and specific deadlines the borrower was approaching, neither of these options was feasible. By using the available resources of BDC Capital, CDC was able to provide the necessary bridge financing until the SBA 504 debenture was funded, preserving the project and allowing the company to complete the acquisition.
